Party Night at The O2
The Lush Life - Cambria Choir collaboration proved to be a huge success last night. The Cambria Choir kicked off the evening to a packed house and performed a selection of uplifting and heart warming songs. For the listener it was a musical journey from the pathos of 'Autumn Leaves' to the vibrant, toe tapping 'Hit the Road Jack'. Voices blended like a perfect cappuccino and a responsive, appreciative audience gave the feel of a friends reunion party. The WM Jazz Club staff and security were also moving to the grooves
Lush Life performed for the latter part of the evening starting their set with their unique rendition of 'Canteloupe' by Herbie Hancock. A moving and beautiful performance of 'City of Stars' by the talented Pippa Higham gently led to a crescendo of dance music. Sally Layne on vocals/piano, David Dickson on drums, Robert Mcinnes on Keyboards , Red Brooks on Sax and Charlie Grima (ex drummer Wizzard) on percussion and congas. They stirred up a frenzy on the dance floor with favourites such as 'Come Together', 'Ain't Nobody' & 'A Little Less Conversation to name but a few. The evening was topped off with an dynamic collaborative performance as band and choir merged for the final two songs: Lady Marmalade & Proud Mary.
The whole evening was a celebration. People coming together and sharing their common love of having a great time. Audience and Musicians together.
